Sokoto spend N12m monthly on NYSC allowance – Commissioner
Sokoto State commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Alhaji Musa Gidanmadi, has said the government spends N12 million as monthly allowance to corps members serving in the state.
The commissioner who noted that the state has numerous plans including financial support to enable youths attain their goals in life, added that, extensive grassroots sport development is also part of Governor Aminu Tambuwal-led administration.
Gidanmadi, who stated this on Friday in Sokoto, said the state government has also revived the disarray youth council as a way of bringing them not just closer to policy makers but to be actively involved in the policy making process.
While insisting that, the state through his ministry has rendered diverse assistance to groups and associations in the state as a way of facilitating self reliance, the commissioner noted that amongst those assisted include the albinos, artisan and inmates.
“The ministry supported the Albino Association with a financial donation of four million naira only. 4, 500, 000 for the purchase of sun protector cream, umbrellas, printing of T-shirts, p-caps, workshop training Bags, feeding and other necessary Training logistics.
“As part of it’s statutory mandate, the Ministry supports the Association of Drivers with the sum of 3, 950, 000 to conduct a sensitization workshop titled ‘Modern Defensive Driving Techniques’ to ensure safety of lives and property of the people.
