POLICE CATCH UP WITH SUSPECTED NYSC CORP MEMBERS’ KILLER.
The Police Command in Kaduna State on Saturday said it had arrested the suspected murderer of a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving in the state.
The command’s Public Relation Officer, ASP Aliyu Usman, told the News Agency of Nigeria in an interview that the kingpin was arrested on Nov. 2.
Usman said the suspect, Adamu Jibrin, 22, had made useful statement to the police on the offence.
“We recovered six loaded cartridges, two knives, two cutlass, a double barrel and one Samsung phone in his room at Unguwar Yero Area in Kaduna,” Usman said.
The late NYSC member, Lawal Kontagora, was killed on Oct. 17.
He was murdered by a group of unknown gunmen in Kaduna State.
The deceased, and his unnamed friend had reportedly gone to visit a female friend at the Malali area of the state, weekend before he was killed.
Reports have it that the trio was seated in a Peugeot 407 when the hoodlums approached them and asked them to open the door.
Upon their compliance, they were asked to alight the vehicle and go on their knees. The assailants then demanded for their mobile phones and in the process of going into the car to get the phone, the assailants thought he (Kontagora) was ‘trying to be smart’ so they reportedly shot him at a close range.
The deceased graduated from one of the universities in Malaysia five months ago to participate in the one-year mandatory NYSC and he was serving with an ICT firm in the state until his death.
Two suspects were earlier arrested on Oct. 20.
According to him, the kingpin is still under investigation, but the two other suspects have already been charged to court.
We alongside with every past and present Corper hopes and prays that justice will be served on lawal’s behalf.
