Batch A Corps Members Build Toilets In Camp

A Batch A corps member in Bauchi state, Miss Ikpi Etsonse Polycarp, has built two toilets in the the Permanent Camp site in an effort to guard against any infectious disease.

This is following the open defecation and urination in the open due to lack of any toilet in the food market of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Wailo, Bauchi State, Polycarp,

Miss Ikpi who hails from Taraba State, said during the commissioning of the toilets that the project was her personal community development project, adding that she was concerned about the unhygienic nature of the environment.
According to her, as a result of the lack of toilets, her fellow corps members patronising the market were at risk of being infected with diseases from the food they buy in the market “because flies and bad odour permeated the entire area” thereby informing her decision to embark on the project.

She disclosed that the sum of N586,000 was expended in the construction of the toilets, adding that she raised the money through donations from well-to-do individuals in the state after all efforts to get funds from the local government that hosts the camp and other state government agencies proved abortive.
